CASA ISLA
Portada
Descripción
This renovation project of an existing dwelling is grounded in two primary premises. Firstly, to maximize the exposure of the dwelling to the beautiful views overlooking Isla del Fraile. The existing dwelling is divided into two parts: a "frontal section" facing the views and a "rear section" opening onto a small patio, housing service spaces. Consequently, the original distribution of the dwelling restricts access to key areas of daily life, such as the kitchen or bathroom, from enjoying the vistas.
The second premise of the project is to pursue minimal intervention, driven by a highly limited budget. The precarious state of unfinished construction in which the dwelling existed, coupled with the impossibility of rendering it entirely habitable due to its substantial size, necessitated the selection of specific spaces on each floor for intervention.
Thus, the proposal generates a series of open, spacious, and fluid areas, enabling the service spaces at the rear of the dwelling to access the views and seamlessly integrating them into the visible and daily experience of the home. To activate the intermediate zone that, in the original layout, disconnects the rear from the frontal area, activating experiences are designed orbiting around a series of "island" objects, transforming these diffuse spaces into the most vibrant areas of the dwelling.
